Our Tour
Sipping a cup of good coffee is like savoring the time and work of the farmers who sow the seeds in seedbeds, then transplant the seedlings into bags, and finally plant them in the fields where they will grow, bloom, fill the air with their aroma, and give us the bright red cherries that, through a process of selection and care, will yield different types of coffee, a gift of flavors for the palate.
Departure at 9:00 am. With transportation, we will depart for the coffee plantations within the municipality of Tenejapa. We will be accompanied by members of Esteban López's family, who have dedicated themselves to the noble work of coffee production for years. Along the way, they will also share aspects of the local culture and history. We will arrive at the starting point of a hike along mountain trails to reach the coffee plantations. There, we will learn about the care and work necessary for the growth of the plants and the processing of the coffee. During harvest season, we will participate in the picking, which is the selection and collection of the coffee cherries. When it is not harvest season, we will do other activities such as collecting river sand for the seedbeds, cleaning the bases of the plants, and preparing compost or applying fertilizers. We will have a break and a meal in the style of the region before returning to San Cristóbal. Along the way, we will visit the mural paintings of Antún Kotom and the family's coffee museum, where we will receive a more in-depth explanation of the coffee process. Tasting of different qualities and types of coffee and its derivatives. End of tour.
