DAY 01.- Reception at the airport or bus station until 13:30 hours and at 15:00 hrs. We star the CITY TOUR: A half day tour: At 10:00 hrs. we start this interesting visit to the city of Oaxaca, called in the colonial times the City of the green quarry stone, and see its magnificent architecture from the XVI and XVIII century, the market place called Benito Juarez, where every day the inhabitants of the communities arrive for selling their several products from the fields and handcrafts, the Main central park, Government palace, the Cathedral, The regional Museum where is exhibited the Monte Alban treasure, Santo Domingo de Guzman church and the 7 regions fountain, lodge at the hotel. (Optional: in the evening, dinner show or just show of LA GUELAGUETZA traditional music and dances of Oaxaca) Time of visit: 3 and half hour.
DAY 02.- TOUR TO THE TULE TREE, TEOTITLAN, MITLA & HIERVE EL AGUA:The entire day tour: At 10:00 a.m. Departure to Santa Maria el Tule and visit of the famous Tule tree considered the widest of the world having fantastic forms in its trunk, visit of Teotitlan to see the beautiful hand made wool weavings, continue to Mitla “place of the dead” where we admire the rich geometrical ornament in green lime stone in its temples, interesting architecture, its tombs, buildings of the church and columns group, hand crafts market, we continue to Hierve el agua, fantastic place of sulphurous water springs and the petrified water falls, we make a walk in order to see them admiring wonderful landscapes, time for lunch and return to Oaxaca and in the way we stop in order to visit a mescal factory, mescal is the traditional liquor obtained by fermentation of one kind of plant agave known as Maguey. Time of visit: 4 and half hour.
DAY O3.- TOUR TO THE INDIANS CHAPELS: The entire day tour: We start at 10:00 hrs. this interesting tour and get to know the real face and History of the indigenous towns in the process of their conversion to the Catholicism in the colonial times, Coixtlahuaca, Teposcolula and Yanhuitlan show temples, convents and chapels for Indians from that time. Time of visit: 7 hours
DAY 04.- TOUR TO MONTE ALBAN & INDIGENOUS TOWNS: Arrazola, Cuilapan, Zaachila, Coyotepec. The entire day tour: In the morning at 10:00 hrs. departure towards Monte Alban (white mountain) Huge archaeological site capital of the Zapotec culture where was found the most important and biggest treasure in gold of Mezo America, now a days exhibited in the regional Museum, we see the ball game court, the observatory, the dancers court, the Main plaza, interesting tombs and the Museum of the site, admiring the beautiful steles and reliefs representing Rulers and Gods with magnificent hieroglyphics inscriptions enjoying also the magic landscapes of the valleys of the surrounding area, we continue our visits of Arrazola, Cuilapan where we see the ex-convent, Zaachila, in this place we have time for lunch in a typical restaurant, San Bartolo Coyotepec, here we visit a family in order to see how this people make the famous black pottery. Return to Oaxaca. Time of visit 8 and half hour.
DAYS 05.- TOUR TO GUELATAO & THE SIERRA MADRE: A half day tour: At 10:00 hrs. Departure to Guelatao and visit of this interesting village surrounded of mountains, the birth place of Benito Juarez, the Zapotec Indian who changed the course of History in Mexico and the whole Latin American Continent. On the way one can admire the beauty of the Sierra Madre Mountains with heights of more than eleven thousand feet above sea level. This tour includes the Museum and the Enchanted Lagoon and the baroque church from the XVI century of Santo Tomas Ixtlán, only 2 kilometers away from Guelatao. Return to Oaxaca and at convenient time transfer to the airport or bus station. Time of visit: 4 and a half hour. |
